Save your whanau and be Fire Wise!
If there was a fire in your home, are you and your whanau going to know? Is your home equipped and up to date with active smoke alarms?
You may think we would detect smoke or fire when asleep but studies around the world show we can’t and are unlikely to wake up.
Whether you are a homeowner in a modern day or older home, or perhaps you are renting, make sure your home is equipped with working smoke alarms.
smoke alarms need maintenance. Smoke should also be testing regularly. When testing your smoke alarm, if no loud annoying (but lifesaving) noise is heard, your alarm probably needs new batteries. If it’s not the batteries, it could mean you may need a new alarm. You should also always vacuum your alarms to clean the fine particles that reach the sensor chamber.
It’s pointless having smoke alarms if they’re not working correctly.
